Not Being Perfect (It’s Ok, Right?)

January 24, 2016

I want to say, “YEAH! SILLY TITLE FOR A POST!” But it’s completely right on. Episode 10 went up yesterday, and I’m beginning to ask myself–WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING KK? I thought I had a plan for what this channel would be, and I thought the plan was just to record what I’ve been doing on a daily basis — but this seems to be getting a little boring–to me, and maybe for others too.

Think I’ve got a lot on my plate. I’m rehearsing tomorrow for a sketch I wrote –we’re going to film it in two weeks. I booked the room, got the actors (all wonderful comics who are really awesome and supportive and talented), and brought a wonderful photographer in to shoot it–we’ve got three cameras total–what?!

So all of that is good, and I’m starting a new class on Monday. So everything is going in a positive direction. Maybe I’m just feeling impatient.

When I published that YouTube clip–submitting it to a host of websites–and only 46 hits (which I’m completely obsessing over). However, you had zero hits two months ago, and 8 subscribers. Today you have 50. Even the cute Russian boy from Nice subscribed yesterday.

I know the answer is just to keep filming everything, to see patterns that develop, and to post what seems fun. Last week I asked the teacher of my class if I could interview him and also if I could use pieces of the work I do in class. He said he would normally do that, but would like me to get permission from the organization that hosts the classes.

I got stunned, fearful and stopped taking action at that point. All I have to do is write to the people who run the classes. No biggie, right? Except I can’t seem to get it together to do that. Argh. I didn’t even write back to the teacher. Argh. Take a breath. You can do it kk. It’s not that big of a deal. If anything, you can record yourself before the class, after the class, show some footage of the way you did your jokes at mics before and mics after –Hallelujah!!!!!!1
